No class in all schools on Feb. 22 (2:25 p.m.)

MANILA -- It will be special a holiday in all private and public schools on February 22 (Monday), in commemoration with the 24th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution.

The Edsa People Power Revolution is usually marked during February 25, but in pursuant to Republic Act No. 9492, all holidays, except those which are religious in nature, are moved to the nearest Monday unless otherwise modified by law, order or proclamation.

As President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed Proclamation No. 1841 July last year, it declares February 22 (Monday) as special holiday since it the nearest Monday to February 25.

The country annually celebrates People Power Revolution, which restored basic liberties such as free speech, freedom of assembly and a free press after 14 years of Martial rule during the time of late President Ferdinand Marcos. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
