Vice guv backs Negrense senatorial bets

NEGROS Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Wednesday, February 13, he will support Negrense senatorial candidates.

Lacson said he will vote for former Interior secretary Rafael Alunan, Magdalo party-list Representative Gary Alejano, re-electionist Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito, former Bayan Muna representative Neri Colmenares, and former presidential candidate Manuel Roxas II.

Lacson said that while re-electionist Senator Grace Poe is on his list, she will still be topping the senatorial elections.

“Let us support those who needed it,” he said, as he appealed to Negrenses to support their fellow Negrenses.

He said that while Love Negros has not met yet to formally select who to support, some members of their group have come out to express support to former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go.

“We believe that he has the eyes, ears, and everything to President Rodrigo Duterte. And with the sugar industry facing another problem in the proposed liberalization, we hope he can help us with the President,” the vice governor said.

“We also thanked the 10 senators who passed and signed the resolution urging the President Duterte not to push through with the plan to liberalize the importation of sugar,” Lacson said.

“We should put in more senators during the midterm elections who will defend the sugar industry,” Lacson added. (TDE)
