Zamboanga City turns over P11.2-M school building project

THE City Government has turned over a two-story six-classroom school building worth P11.2 million to the Limaong National High School through the Department of Education (DepEd).

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar led the turned over ceremony held on Wednesday, February 13, of the school building project, the seventh climate-resilient infrastructure unveiled in a period of eight months.

Salazar said the newly-constructed school building highlights structural cum-architectural designs that can withstand weather conditions resulting from climate change, having rain collector for comfort room usage, higher elevation to prevent flood water from entering the classrooms, wider hallways, Persons with Disability (PWD) accessibility, and all rooms have breather ventilation space, among other features.

Salazar said the new Limaong National High School building is the seventh to be turned over to the DepEd and school children since June 2018.

The six other similar buildings unveiled were located at the Cabaluay National High School, Cabaluay Elementary School, Manicahan National High School, Tulungatung National High School, Labuan National High School, and Vitali Nationall High School.

Salazar said that all the seven projects unveiled form part of the initial 21 school infrastructures designed to address climate change that were lined up for implementation.

She said the Limaong school building has an area of 641.24 square meters.

She said it was constructed by a private construction firm under the supervision of the City Engineer’s Office. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
