IMAGINE sipping a cup of your favorite coffee like wine on a relaxing day. You savor the richness of its flavor and appreciate the best quality of the brew.

UCC Clockwork, located at the Bonifacio District on Panagdait St., Mabolo, provides a fitting spot for this experience. Just fresh from its opening last September 2018, Clockwork is a cozy spot tucked in the corner of the new commercial strip facing the curving turn of the street.

‘Third wave’ coffee

The coffee place is geared toward giving Cebuanos a taste of “third wave” coffee. This means that the caffeine fixes served here are products of improved production and processing of coffee beans, going through higher quality of roasting and brewing. The UCC staff tasked to prepare your brew undergoes regular training in UCC’s “coffee academy” in Manila to make sure the desired quality is always achieved. This gives the brew a little extra in terms of flavor, making coffee lovers enjoy their cups more as they go through important things that they would like to do at Clockwork.

The design of the place speaks a lot of the desired clientele that Clockwork wants to draw in. The corner location takes advantage of the street view, with glass windows lining two sides of the space. This allows natural lighting to come in especially during the day and allows one to ponder looking outside while sipping coffee. Apart from the Instagrammable wall accents and interior features, the space layout reflects its attempt to attract the contemporary coffee place visitors, especially the younger lot. There are seats inside that cater to guests who would like to meet with a few friends or business colleagues, or just to have breakfast or snacks with family. So whether one goes there with some friends or just by himself, there is a place for everyone.

Customize your breakfast

Clockwork serves yummy and tummy-filling breakfast meals all-day. The choices range from corned beef, which you can have either country-style or fresh served with kimchi rice, to Japanese pancakes or waffles with fruits, with spreads or ice cream as possible add-ons. Well, one could also go for a customary meal of garlic longganisa, tocino or marinated fish.

There is also an al fresco area where young people or bigger groups could converge over cold beverages. This spot can be an excellent hangout, especially when dusk sets in after work or school, where visitors can also enjoy dessert (perfect with coffee again, of course) or a cold bottle of beer. Clockwork’s desserts and pastries, like its sans rival and tiramisu, are always fresh and delivered regularly straight from Manila.

In UCC Clockwork, drinking coffee transcends from just mere consumption of a commodity. Here, people get to appreciate the intricacies of coming up with a great-tasting cup of joe that not only appeals to the senses but more importantly, soothes stressed souls craving for some laid-back moments.

UCC Clockwork Cebu opens at 7 a.m. until 12 midnight.
