More than 4,000 job vacancies offered in Kaganapan job fair

JOB vacancies offered in the Kaganapan 2019 Job Fair reached some 4,200, accommodating applicants from the City of San Fernando and nearby towns.

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) shared that more than 40 local companies from the province, including those from Metro Manila and some parts of Central Luzon, participated in the said fair, together with overseas companies that are Middle East and Japan-based.

Carl Annies Ong, Labor and Employment Officer II of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Pampanga Field Office, remarked that job fairs benefit applicants in many aspects.

“This job fair does not only have Pampanga companies. We also have companies from Manila and other cities and provinces. This is a big help to applicants as they could save on fare and it’s convenient for them,” said Ong.

Ferdinand Caylao, Kaganapan 2019 chairperson, on the other hand, lauded the city government for its efforts in giving employment opportunities to Fernandinos.

“Because of the job fairs organized by the city, together with its partners, we can see that a lot of Fernandinos find jobs. If we compare it to previous fairs, the number of applicants is declining. Maybe it’s a manifestation that many have been employed already but we will still continue,” expressed Caylao.

Employment being one of the city’s top priorities, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago vowed to hold more similar activities.

“Right after a Fernandino finishes his or her studies, he or she will look for a job. And being employed in a company also nurtures one’s skills and knowledge and of course, a way to meet their daily needs,” he said.

Other city officials and representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, and Department of Trade and Industry also graced the said fair. (PR)
