DHVSU community thanks solon for law renaming university

STUDENTS and stakeholders of the recently renamed Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) expressed their thanks through social media to Third District Representative Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales, Jr. for authoring the law that paved the way for renaming their school.

News about the renaming of the former Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University on social media was shared 634 times and commented on by social media users for 4,756 times. A frequent message on the threads were students, faculty, former graduates and ordinary people thanking Gonzales for his effort in making the law come true.

Students are also hoping for new courses in the Liberal Arts, Legal Management, Law, Medicine, Allied Sciences, and Health-related programs in the near future.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act 11169 which renamed Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University into Don Honorio Ventura State University.

Duterte early this January signed the bill after it was approved by both houses of Congress. The law also lifts the restrictions placed upon the state university through its former name.

Efforts to rename the historic state university was first introduced in 2017 by Gonzales.

Gonzales said that renaming of the university will bring about the modification of restrictive provisions of Republic Act (RA) 9832 and elevate the status of this higher education institution from a technological to a comprehensive university.

Additional courses in the liberal arts, medical and allied medical fields shall be offered in addition to those specified in Section 3 of RA 9832.
