Spanish envoy visits Zamboanga City

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has expressed gratitude to the Spanish Government and the non-government organizations implementing their programs for the continued help and assistance to evacuees and the underprivileged sector in Zamboanga City.

Salazar, together with City Administrator Marie Angelique Go and City Tourism Officer Sarita Hernandez, personally welcomed Spanish Ambassador Jorge Moragas Sanchez upon the latter’s arrival on Thursday night, February 14, in this city.

Salazar handed over to Ambassador Sanchez and party tokens of appreciation and friendship in recognition of the many programs the Spanish Government has implemented in this city since the 2013 siege.

Ambassador Sanchez was in the city to grace the “Partnership for Human Security” program and the inauguration of the evacuation center in Calarian-Flamingo Friday, February 15.

The Spanish Government through the NGOs Manos Unidas and the Agencia Española Cooperacion Desarollo (AECID) and the Zamboanga Basilan Integrated Development Alliance (Zabida) has provided interventions to help in the rehabilitation and recovery of Zamboanga after the 2013 siege.
