City receives award for health program

ANGELES CITY – The City Government led by Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno has been awarded a special citation by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

It was for implementing the National Health Insurance Program of the Government and assuring Angeleños’ access to quality healthcare services.

In a ceremony dubbed “Pasasalamat sa Partners”, the mayor’s chief-of-staff, Gerard Patrick Nepomuceno, received the award from PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Reynaldo Aquino and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Austere Panadero.

Other local government units, government and private institutions and partner agencies were also cited during the formal programs highlighting the 15th anniversary of PhilHealth, a partner agency of the Department of Health.

During the flag ceremony Monday, Mayor Nepomuceno thanked the people who continued to support the said program as well as the departments and offices, including the officials and councilors here who assisted him in the implementation of the program.

The said award is based on the chief executive’s exemplary performance of implementing the program, through the free distribution of Philhealth cards to all 33 barangays of the city.

The free distribution of health cards aims to ensure that beneficiaries will have access to health care and medical treatment in any accredited medical institution.

Around 11,743 families benefited from the program since last year.
