Zamboanga CDRRMO on alert amid bad weather

THE City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) raised its alert level, as Zamboanga City continues to experience inclement weather that could trigger flashfloods and landslides.

CDRRMO head Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario said his office is on alert round the clock to respond to emergencies that may arise due to the stormy weather the city has been experiencing the past days.

Apolinario said the water level in the rivers of Pasonanca, Tumaga and Tugbungan villages rose due to heavy rains, but no overflowing was reported.

He said some low-lying areas in the city were flooded, but not much damage has been reported.

He said the CDRRMO will intensify its monitoring activities to ensure safety and protection of the residents.
