Neri: Despidida for Dawnie

FOR the past 17 years Patria “Dawnie” Roa has been the face of the Department of Tourism in Region 7 (DOT 7).

WITH THE HONORARY CONSULS. Above photo shows Dawnie with Honorary Consul (Russia) Armi Garcia, Spanish Consul Jaime Picornell, and Consul (Slovak Republic) Sammy Chioson.

Now that she’s retired, her no nonsense persona and steadying presence will sorely be missed in the travel and tourism sector.

The good news is—she has a competent successor in Rica Bueno who has been with the DOT for 20 years. And one more thing, Dawnie will stay in Cebu (she is originally from Cagayan de Oro) and share her expertise in consultancy work. By the way, her term has been extended till April.

Friends trooped to Laguna Garden Cafe for the despedida merienda hosted by Lita Urbina. Mila Espina was over-all coordinator. Oh yes, it was very well attended: personalites from the consular corps, hoteliers, airline executives, travel agents belonging to different organizations, business leaders from Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, people from the fourth estate, and more.
