Lovestrings presents Oro acoustic bands

VALENTINE'S Day was made more romantic as several acoustic bands serenaded the mall goers and shoppers as SM CDO Downtown Premier hosted an acoustic popfest last Thursday, February 14.

Over a thousand people had their hearts softened up when ten acoustic bands performed two love songs each during the Lovestrings Acoustic Popfest, a live acoustic competition for aspiring musicians.

The competition was participated by local bands of Cagayan de Oro City, namely: Ground Zero, Beyond Harmony, Simple Letters, Cozy Band, The Fourth, Arza Mego, Mized Wings, Ablaze Acoustic, New Vibes, and Spyglass.

Declared as champion was Spyglass who also won the Shoppers' Choice Award. They received a cash prize worth P20,000 and a trophy.

Coming in as first runner up was Ablaze Acoustic, who also got the Youtube Choice Award; while the second runner up was the acoustic band Ground Zero.

They were awarded with trophy and cash prize worth P15,000 and P10,000, respectively.

However, before the winners were awarded, resounding cheers erupted from the crowd as Asia's Acoustic Sweetheart Sabrina and Stephen Speaks' singer-songwriter Rockwell Ryan Ripperger performed several well-known love songs, making Valentine's Day sweeter for both singles and couples.

After the competition, 50 lucky people had the opportunity to meet and greet with the Stephen Speaks.

Spyglass, Ablaze Acoustic and Ground Zero, apart from receiving their prizes, will also get the chance to perform live in future events hosted by SM CDO Downtown Premier.
