Manhunt underway for LBC robbery suspect

POLICE are now on the hunt for members of a robbery syndicate who were believed to have robbed the LBC branch along Pabayo-Chavez streets, Cagayan de Oro City last Thursday, February 14.

Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said the perpetrators are believed to be members of the Bedro robbery group, a breakaway of Ozamis-based robbery syndicate.

Hortillosa said one of the suspects was identified as Archolito Palubon alias "Bingkol" while the other has yet to be identified.

Hortillosa said Palubon was the other suspect of the LBC-Divisoria robbery incident last November who escaped during the hot pursuit operation launched by the operatives.

The said operation resulted in the arrest of Roosevelt Bedro, the supposed leader of the Bedro robbery group.

"Siya tong nakaikyas sa operation human sa tulis sa LBC Divisoria. Giila siya sa mga empleyado kay naa mani sa gallery nato ang suspect," Hortillosa said.

Hortillosa said Palubon was caught on the security camera as the one who barged in to the establishment and declared hold-up. He was also positively identified by the employees through the photo gallery of the police.

The LBC Pabayo-Chavez branch does not have security personnel despite repeated recommendation by the authorities to employ guards.

The city council has been reminding the company to beef up its security measures to avoid similar incident.

"Naa na baya to recommendation ang city council nga magbutang gyud og guards kay pwede ma-sanction ang LBC kung dili mag-comply. Ang uban branches naa nay security personnel pero kani nga branch wala," Hortillosa said.

Hortillosa has again raised the suspicions and possibilities that the incident is an "inside job".

"May possibility nga naay inside job. Dili necessary nga taga diha sa branch pero taga LBC ra," he added.

The management has yet to declare the amount of cash remittance carted away by the armed motorcycle-riding suspects.

Investigators have already filed robbery charges against the suspects.
