2 men arrested with P13.6 million worth of shabu

ILLEGAL drugs worth P13.6 million were recovered by local police during a buy bust in Sitio All Seasons II Cogon, Barangay Pardo in Cebu City Saturday, Feb. 16.

Arrested by operatives of the Pardo Police Station were Danilo Dela Cerna and Givanni Canesare, both 22 and residents of Sitio Manol, Barangay Tisa.

They yielded big packs of suspected shabu that weighed two kilos.

Chief Insp. Regino Maramag, Pardo Police Station chief, said they placed the two suspects under surveillance for three months before they conducted the operation.

Last Saturday night, Maramag and his operatives conducted a test buy on the two suspects and bought around 25 grams of shabu worth P170,000.

During initial investigation, Dela Serna and Canesare told police they got their supply of illegal drugs from a certain Ogie Rojas, a resident of Barangay Duljo Fatima. They said they were only selling drugs for him.

The Cebu City Police Office identified Rojas as a high-value drug target.

Rojas, Dela Cerna and Canesare are reportedly members of the Berto Randy drug group, which operates in Cebu City.

Maramag believed the shabu came from Luzon.

“If you look at the drug packages, they have blue markings like those found in Metro Manila. We will investigate if this group has connections in Manila,” Maramag told Superbalita Cebu.

Aside from Rojas, Dela Cerna and Canesare also named other drug personalities, but Maramag said they needed to validate the information and conduct a follow-up operation.

The two suspects told police their contacts would call them if there was a big shipment of drugs. They would get several packs that they sold on the streets. They said they would get a huge sum of money for every package sold.

Dela Cerna and Canesare said their transactions often involved large bulks of shabu, adding that they could sell close to a kilo of shabu every week. They told Maramag they never accepted small transactions. (AYB of Superbalita Cebu/JKV)
