THE Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Davao Chapter is waiting for the response of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on their proposed adjusted allowance.

ACT Davao president Elenito Escalante told reporters on Friday, February 15, they submitted their new proposal to the Office of the City Mayor in October 2018.

The latest proposal submitted asked for a P 1,500 monthly allowance and a half sack of rice for every three months. This is compared to their previous proposal which asked for a P2,000 monthly allowance and P2,500 quarterly rice subisidy per teacher.

"Pero dako among pasalamat kang Mayor Sara nga sa matag tuig nakadawat kami tag P2,000 cash gift uban sa mga citizens namuyo diri sa dakbayan (We’re still thankful to Mayor Sara for giving us Dabawenyos a gift checks yearly)," he said.

Meanwhile, ACT urged the government for a salary increase for teachers and government employees as the prices of basic commodities also increased.

Escalante said ACT is still calling for a P16,000 rate for salary grade 1 employees, P30,000 salary for Teacher 1 and P31,000 for Instructor 1.
