Terrorist act simulation exercise held

DIFFERENT security forces in Davao City participated in a simulation exercise at Marco Polo Hotel Davao Sunday dawn to evaluate their capacity in responding to bomb explosion and terrorist attack.

The activity, which was held around 3 a.m. on February 17 ended around 5:30 a.m.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit (RFU)-Davao City, City Field Unit (DCCFU) chief Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz said that their office was one of those who joined in the exercise.

The activity was under the supervision of Davao City Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC).

Driz said the activity aims to also assess the readiness of the establishment during bomb explosions and terroristic acts as well as the creation of the Critical Incident Management Task Group and Critical Incident Management Committee during major incidents in Davao City.

The activity was conducted at dawn to not disturb other guests.

PSSCC deputy head Angel Sumagaysay, meanwhile, said that the exercise was satisfactory considering that the movement undertaken was in accordance to the protocol set by their security plan. However, he said that there are still gaps and areas for improvement.

"Besides nakita pod nato ang galaw ng in house responders ng Marco Polo. Need pa seguro mga improvements sa mga galaw nila," Sumagaysay said.

"Sa side ng responders yung external at least everybody responded on time at na set up agad ang incident commamd post," he added.

It was also participated by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao Red Team, Task Force Davao, Davao City Police Office, Central 911, Red Cross, Bureau of Fire Protection, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD)/K9, Scene of the Crime Operatives and other concerned law enforcement agency.
