Arroyo urged to give way (6:49 p.m.)

MANILA – Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales urged President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her supporters to give other people a chance to serve the country.

“I think we should respect other people’s giftedness. Give others a chance to become a leader in the government or any other organization,” he said, in a radio interview.

The prelate said it is only right for those who had served to give chance to others, as other people might also have developmental ideas for the country.

“Developmental ideas, it’s not a monopoly of one person. We cannot monopolize good leadership,” he said.

With this, Rosales is wishing that the sense of “delicadeza” will prevail among Arroyo and her allies amid speculations that the Chief Executive will be fielded as the administration's bet for the Speakership at the House of Representatives.

“I hope their sense of delicadeza will prevail. They should give others a chance to serve the country,” he said.

On Monday, reports revealed that the Lakas-Kampi-CMD members are fielding Arroyo for the Lower House’s top post should she win the congressional race in the second district of Pampanga. (MSN/Sunnex)
