THE boyfriend of Ashley Abad, 19, who died of drug overdose on Sinulog day, denied that he was the one who gave her the party drug ecstasy.

Nel Spencer Tiu, who has been identified as the prime suspect in Abad's death, appeared before the Cebu City Police Office on February 13 to clear his name. He was accompanied by his parents.

Police Regional Office-Central Visayas Chief Debold Sinas said Tiu was interviewed by investigators who were tasked to probe Abad's death.

Tiu said though that he did not give Abad the illegal drug contrary to reports.

Sinas said he could not yet reveal the names of personalities who will be charged over Abad's death, but added that they are on the last stage of the investigation.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier ordered the Cebu police to arrest Tiu and the other companions of Abad at the pre-Sinulog party at the Cebu Business Park on January 19.
