THE Commission on Population (PopCom) will celebrate its 50th Anniversary today, February 19, with the theme “Popcom at 50: Naglilingkod Tungo sa Planado at Maginhawang Pamilyang Pilipino.”
The celebration highlights the continuing challenges, opportunities and milestones of the commission in improving the quality of lives of the Filipino people throughout the years. It also showcases the growing support from various partners as well as other development initiatives.
PopCom-Central Luzon continues to work for the improvement of the quality of life of every Filipino with its core functions in policy formulation and planning development, program advocacy and communication, data information and management, as well as resource mobilization.
PopCom was created through the enactment of various legislations such as Republic Act 6365, known as the Population Act of the Philippines further amended by Presidential Decrees 79 and 166. (IOF)
