Options to eating healthy

I SAW a Facebook meme that says it’s difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle because eating right is more expensive than eating junkfood or processed food. It showed a photo of a salad and a cheeseburger, comparing prices. I laughed because I could relate.

I was tempted to make a salad so I included some ingredients during our weekly grocery. Did you know that a seven-ingredient salad costs more than P300? That is, indeed, way too much if you would really compare it with your favorite chips.

But I asked myself, “Does price really matter if you want to be healthy?“ As a breastfeeding mom, it is my responsibility to eat healthy so my daughter, Yanna, will also get the right nutrients from my breast milk. Ever since I got pregnant, I would see to it that I include fruits and vegetables in my balanced diet. It’s either I munch or drink them.

So here are some photos of my own salad, overnight oats, and smoothies that I did recently. I already posted some of these in my Instagram and Facebook stories. The colors make them enticing and mouthwatering! I also gave Yanna small portions of my salad and smoothie. And she likes it, too!

We must admit that we cheat on our food intake since we also do not want to deprive ourselves from eating what we want. But, it is more important that we discipline ourselves by having daily consumption of fruits and veggies. It always pays to stay healthy!
