FOOD entrepreneur Constantine “Stan” Tanchan is expanding his food business.

This year, he is eyeing to open two branches of Choobi-Choobi Restaurant in Oslob and Talisay City. He is also planning to open two more branches of Kogi-Q.

On Saturday, Feb. 16, Tanchan unveiled his latest restaurant brand called Angus Dan’s located on the corner of Jasmine and Orchid Sts. in Barangay Capitol Site.

This replaced Stan’s Tinolahan+Grill restaurant, which operated for less than two years.

Tanchan said Stan’s became unprofitable due to tight competition in the area. It drew fewer customers despite lower food prices. For them to earn money, Tanchan said they had to keep the restaurant packed with diners.

But this time around, Tanchan is optimistic Angus Dan’s will take off.

The upscale New York City-inspired steak and seafood house serves fusion salads and appetizers alongside traditionally grilled steaks and seafood with a modern twist.

Tanchan named this latest venture after his one-year-old son, Dan.

He is confident this new food concept will earn the Cebuanos’ praise as they remain committed to providing good food at lower prices.

“We didn’t put much margin in the hope that people will come and we can recover the overhead (costs) through the volume,” he said.

Tanchan also believes Cebuanos are ready to welcome new food concepts, on the back of Cebu’s stellar economic growth, which led to the rise in spending power and interest of people to travel a lot.

“I think the market is ready (for this kind of dining),” said Tanchan. He cited the success of Choobi-Choobi, which now has 30 branches in key cities of the country that are both franchised and company-owned.

Angus Dan’s signature steak is the garlic steak, 200 grams of US tenderloin. They also offer premium steaks—USDA choice Angus rib eye, USDA choice Porterhouse steak and grilled Angus short ribs.

The restaurant also serves a variety of seafood such as grilled swordfish belly, scallops, shrimps and lobsters, among others.

Angus Dan’s has a seating capacity of almost 100 persons. It also features a function room that can accommodate 30 persons and a private meeting room for 12. (KOC)
