‘Pusher,’ six others nabbed in separate ops

SEVEN individuals including a suspected pusher and a former contractor were arrested in separate operations by the police in the Cordillera region over the week.

Two illegal loggers were recently arrested by the combined personnel of Sabangan Municipal Police Station (MPS) together with the personnel of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) at Sitio Engan, Barangay Tambingan, Sabangan, Mountain Province on February 17.

The suspects were Saturnino Martin, 56 and Ariel Longao, 34, both residents Barangay Tambingan in Sabangan.

During the operation, undetermined value of newly sawn pine lumber with a total volume of 98.66 board feet were confiscated.

In a separate operation, a suspected drug pusher was arrested in a joint drug bust of the City Drug Enforcement and Intelligence Unit and Station 6 of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit Cordillera (PDEA-CAR) along Lopez Jaena Street, Lopez Jaena Barangay, Baguio City in the evening of February 17.

Previously listed as a drug surrenderer, Randy Mendoza Tandoc, 32, of San Antonio Village Barangay, Baguio City was nabbed after he sold a sachet of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to one of the operatives who acted as a poseur-buyer.

Four heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, P1000 cash, a cellular phone and a motorcycle were confiscated from the suspect.

Meanwhile, a former contractor was arrested during the implementation of search warrant by the personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Regional Field Unit (CIDG-RFU) Cordillera and BCPO Station 8 at Agpaoa Drive, Camp 7, Baguio City in the morning of February 16.

Danny Don Obra Nievera, 63, native of Ambuclao, Bokod, Benguet and a resident of Agpaoa Drive, Camp 7, Baguio City was arrested after police confiscated in his possession one caliber .22 revolver, 32 assorted ammunitions for caliber .22, caliber .38, and caliber .40; two long rifles of unknown model and without serial number, and two magazines for M-16 rifle, and .9mm pistol.

In a joint operation of the CIDG Abra, Regional Mobile Force Brigade (RMFB)-15 and Bangued MPS against illegal gambling, three persons were arrested in the act of operating “online sabong” inside the cockpit arena at Bangued Sports Complex, Lip-can, Bangued, Abra on February 15.

Arrested individuals were identified as Juan Carlo Macalino Dayrit, 23; Michael Angelo Macalino Dayrit, 27, both residents of Poblacion, Mabalacat City, Pampanga; and Romar Dela Campos Cruz, 32, resident of Calasiao, Pangasinan.

Confiscated from their possessions were two cameras, two tripods, computer mouse, TV, LTE broadband, computer keyboard, Mac CPU, one Mac mini, one mixer monitor and assorted cable wires.

All arrested suspects are now facing appropriate charges filled by the police in court while evidences confiscated from them are now under the custody of the concerned operating units for proper disposition.
