FEBRUARY is not just about celebrating love, for SM City Davao, it is also a celebration of music and talent.

True enough, the mall successfully pulled off last Sunday, February 17, another edition of Love Strings Acoustic Popfest, a live acoustic competition at its Annex Event Center.

Out of nine talented homegrown acoustic bands, the Crescendo Acoustic was hailed as the champion for this year after its moving and grand rendition of Apo Hiking Society’s Mahirap Magmahal Ng Syota Ng Iba and Gugmang Maka of Russel "Ching" Alegado.

The band is composed of Kimberly Keith C. Bano, Dorothy Blez C. Bano, J Florence Carin, Felix Anthony Sevilles, and Shena Lajera.

They won a P20,000 cash prize and a chance to perform live in future events of SM City Davao.

Coming in as first runner up was Until Dawn composed of Luke Gabriel Isnani, Norbert Rayjhon Esporma, Jess Ruel Labares, and Jake Jefferson Omboy.

The second runner up was the all-boys acoustic band Cuatros composed of Rafaello Canedo, Jeremiah P. Aquitana, Jose Paolo Caroz, and Leandro Roi M. Bandala. Cuatros also won the Shoppers’ Choice Award.

They were awarded with cash prizes of P15,000 and P10,000, respectively.

For the special award, Asterisk Band (Albert Von Daligdigan, Raffy Saga, Dianne Poliquit, and Brian Angel Coyno) got the Viewers’ Choice Award.

The competition was also participated by local acoustic bands, namely: Baby Blues, Checkmates, Front Act, Perfect Fifth, and Segway Band.

The program ended with a bang as singer-song writer Janine Teñoso serenaded the crowd with her amazing performance.
