FOR almost two months now, the website of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan has been under siege. Since December 2018, we have been fighting against attacks on the website. Our friends and allies in established and alternative media have also been fending off a series of distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS). These repeated deluge of attacks have forced shutdown after shutdown of our website. At present, we are still working on getting bayan.ph back online despite the seemingly never-ending onslaught of attacks.
Clearly, there are powerful forces intent on keeping us quiet and voiceless online. Duterte’s forces, with its immense power, financial backing, and resources, are intent on wielding its fascist and tyrannical fist not only offline, but even in the cyberspace.
However, we shall not be silenced. And we call on all Filipinos to join the call against these persistent cyber attacks, and against forces who are deliberately shutting us out of the democratic space online.--BAGONG ALYANSANG MAKABAYAN
