DAVAO Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet-bound Bhing Joel Gimony of the Jose Maria College (JMC) bagged the 1st Agdao U-12 Chess Tournament crown at the Computer Sense College in Agdao.
Gimony bested Gino Angelo Asuncion of Doña Pilar Learning Center (DPLC) and Joerlz Gimony of JMC who wounded up in the next two spots.
Bhing Joel received a cash prize of P200 and a trophy while Asuncion got P100 and a medal and Joerlz went home with P50 and a medal.
The top boy player Tyson Perez of Agdao also copped a medal in the one-day event organized by Sherwin Orbeta to promote grassroots chess in the barangays. Orbeta also spearheaded the holding of youth chess events at DPLC in Sasa. (MLSA)
