CIDG seizes P5-M illegal cosmetics

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Davao region (CIDG 11) seized P5 million worth of illegal cosmetics and equipment and tools used in manufacturing the recovered items at Block 7 Lot 6 & 7 Phase1, Talisay St., Deca Homes Subdivision, Indangan, Davao City during the execution of search warrants on Tuesday, February 19.

Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, CIDG 11 Davao City Field Unit head, said that the operation was part of Oplan Olea campaign “to totally stop this erring act of economic sabotage.”

Detectives from CIDG 11 together with Buhangin Police Station conducted the simultaneous implementation of two search warrants issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC 11) Branch 16 Executive Judge Emmanuel Carpio against Marvin Rey Marba for violation of RA 9711, also known as the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects identified as Nelibeth Loro Marba, 30, married and a resident of Blk. 7 Lot 6 Phase 1, Deca Homes Subdivison, Indangan, Davao City; Charish Buenaventura Malvez, 31, single and a resident of Blk. 114 lot 4 phase 4, Deca Homes Subd., Indangan, Davao City; and Franz Kevin Burgos Gaslang, 30, and a resident of Mini Mabini Blvd., Davao City. The target of the operation, however, was not present in the area.

“The search, seizure, and inventory were conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner in accordance with law and at all times witnessed by the subjects, FDA personnel, and Barangay Kagawad Peregrine Sombilon,” Driz said.

Likewise, the team confiscated pieces of evidence including assorted illegal cosmetic products as well as the equipment and tools used in manufacturing cosmetic products.

“I am appealing to all the people of Davao City, If they have known any kind of suspicious activities and if they have known personalities who are engaged in illegal activities pertaining to economic Sabotage and all forms of criminalities and criminal gangs they can report it to CIDG 11 Davao City field unit through our hotline number: 09460642468,” Driz added.
