EXCITING doors of opportunity will soon be opened for world-class Filipino performers through the International Dance Organization (IDO), according to officials of the newly-formed Philippine Dance Culture Arts and Sports Federation or PhilDance.

To make this happen, IDO President Michael Wendt is in town to formally welcome PhilDance into its growing world federation made up of organizations from over 90 countries.

PhilDance debuts on Wednesday, February 20 in a formal ceremony that will take place at 6 p.m. at the QCX Event Center in the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.

“PhilDance was established in response to the intense need of Filipino dancers seeking to join global competitions but who are hampered by the lack of a local governing body that shall accredit and endorse their participation in various international tournaments,” according to PhilDance President Raul Dominic Badilla.

For her part, PhilDance Chairperson Ana Dulce Yango said the formalization of the PhilDance and IDO linkage is timely because it happens early in the 2019 calendar of IDO competitions.

“There is still time for the PhilDance to send official entries,” she said.

Yango said there are world-class Filipino dancers who would be “ready to respond to the challenge of representing the country in the IDO competitions in the months ahead.”

“PhilDance, as the national federation for the Philippines, will make sure we fully comply with the IDO standards and rules whenever we send official entries and delegations.” Badilla said.

He said PhilDance will consult their members and leaders of the local dance communities to determine who would be fielded to the IDO tournaments for 2019. (PR)
