‘Some major Capitol projects may take off under new admin’

NEGROS Occidental Acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said on Wednesday, February 20, that some of the major projects of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. may take off in the new administration.

Gelvolea said the groundbreaking of the P1.6 billion project of Dynamic Builders Inc. for a mixed-use building at the Provincial Administration Center may take place before the term of Marañon ends in June this year as well as the start of the construction of the new PAC worth P900 million.

She said the offices occupying PAC may already vacate the building anytime in March after they have already found the respective areas where they would temporarily transfer.

The affected Capitol offices will be transferring to the Benjamin Hall, St. Francis Building, second floor of the new Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Capgem) building, commercial area of the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP) hostel, stockroom of the Depot at 6th Street, and the mezzanine of the Philippine National Bank building which was given to Capitol as part of their deal, Gelvolea said.

The provincial government will rent office spaces in the said areas aside from the Philippine National Bank while the new PAC building is being constructed.

Gelvolea said the province has asked for a six-month extension from the Dynamic Builders to clear PAC so the demolition would be done to give way for the construction of the mixed-use building. (TDE)
