MASANTOL -- A brand new, secured and modern facility is now ready to cater to Masantoleños as the local government here inaugurated recently the municipal civic center in Barangay San Nicolas.

The new facility stands in a 6,000 square meter government-owned lot along the municipal road which will serve as a venue for various activities such as meetings, parties, conferences and evacuation center during times of disasters.

Mayor Danilo Guintu disclosed that Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda provided P5.8-million funds for the construction of the structure, while Senator Grace Poe sponsored the construction of P3-million concrete fence.

“Our initial plan is just a covered area intended for simple meetings but Governor Nanay said that we must improve the structure to a civic center which is safer and more decent that can be used for evacuation during flooding, or recreation activities,” Guintu said.

Meanwhile, Guintu said that he will complement the civic center with a public park where senior citizens, children, and other residents and tourists can visit and relax during their free time.

This is aside from the water district facility and learning centers that currently stand on the public compound.

“Our goal is to make the place an area where Masantoleños and visitors can play, rest and have fun, especially that it is adjacent to a lake which brings in cool breeze,” he said.
