WHEN it comes to getting the gorgeous look perfect for special occasions, the name Niko Go is one of the top choices in Cagayan de Oro City.

Albeit his expertise is not limited only in the said city but also in the northern parts of the country such as Manila.

Joed Go, or as he is known by his peers and in the makeup industry as Niko, started showing his artistic skills in color shades and blushes not in makeup, rather in sketches and paintings of abstract and nature artworks. He even has his own personal gallery at home during his grade school days.

It was not until high school that Niko traded his paint brushes to makeup contour blush brush.

“In my primary years at Corpus Christi School, I always loved to draw and design in my notebooks that my styling sketches usurped in my oratorical contest notes and math quiz bee annotations. Despite being discouraged by my parents to indulge in this passion and to focus on academics, I persist in clandestine,” Niko said.

“Right after college graduation as I worked at Globe Telecom Makati as marketing officer, the fiery beautification zest in me made me take some turn,” he added.

Niko is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing at Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan. He also received training in the Fashion Institute of the Philippines.

Despite creating his own style as a makeup artist, Niko said he picks up some ideas and wisdom as inspiration to his work from one of the world's biggest makeup artists, Mario Dedivanovic, who was well-known for his Kim Kardashian contouring.

“The business of beautification especially crafted by the makeup artisans should have the penultimate end—to make the client feel seductive to herself,” Niko, whose trademark hashtag in social media is #DefiningSeduction, said.

“When we buy personal care and beauty essentials, we do not buy them for minimum functional purpose. All efforts should be for utmost potential of our God-given physique,” he added.

According to Niko, his style in makeup is to highlight his client's special features and enhance the not-so-good features. This, he said, will boost his client's confidence which is an essential ingredient in seduction.

As for future plans, Niko said he's still keeping up with his rising number of bookings.

“I realized that though I was trained on several marketing strategies in school, but in my niche of the beauty industry, the word-of-mouth attestation of my savvy and satisfied clients made me happier with a growing number of clientele who can’t wait to have an encore of my brand of seduction,” Niko said.
