Another `nanlaban' killed in Tagoloan

POLICE killed a former convict linked to illegal drug activities in a drug bust in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental past 1 a.m. Thursday, February 21.

Authorities identified the drug suspect as Rolando Daapong, 39, who served time at the Davao Penal Colony for robbery.

Members of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Tagoloan town police carried out a drug bust which turned bloody when the suspect allegedly fought back.

Police said Daapong was armed with a caliber 38 revolver and was the first to shoot at the operatives, forcing the authorities to retaliate.

The suspect succumbed to gunshot wounds in the body and did not get to the hospital alive.

Investigators recovered the suspect's firearm and six sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
