Our forever beauty queen gives birth to a baby boy named Elijah Roberto!

I got a call from my best friend Miriam on my birthday on February 15 while she was checked in at the Asian Hospital in Alabang. She was confined because she started to have contractions and her cervics was already dilated at 1 cm. Thus, her OB-Gyn Dr. Becky, thought it was best for her to get confined.

They administered some drugs to stop the contractions. The goal was to keep baby Elijah longer in Miriam's womb as he was just 35 weeks old. They wanted his lungs to develop more so to give birth at 37 weeks would be ideal. I was joking with Miriam that baby Elijah will be born on my birthday, too.

Their doctor wanted to give the test to Miriam because she was flying to Japan from February 18 to 22 so she instructed to give the test days earlier as she felt more at ease to do the Doppler Ultrasound before she flies to Japan.

The test came out alarming as the amniotic fluid of Miriam is running low so on February 16 they decided that Miriam will have an emergency Caesarian delivery. The danger is that the baby will be distressed without the right amount of amniotic fluid and if they waited for a few more days could have resulted in a stillbirth.

So a successful Caesarian was done and baby Elijah was born around 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 16. Ardy Roberto and Miriam were sharing to me videos of how Elijah was ready to be delivered via natural birth as his head was already in the right position. In the end, the doctor had to scoop him up with his feet first from Miriam's belly. The Robertos are thankful for having a skilled and experienced doctor who made baby Elijah's birth a successful one.

Baby Elijah was crying but when given to Miriam he stopped crying as if comforted with the familiarity of his mother's skin and body. That video gave me some serious goosebumps. Josh, their eldest son also stayed at the hospital and is a very protective older brother to Elijah. I also found out that we cannot make Miriam laugh at this time while her wounds are healing. She started crying from pain caused by her wounds after laughing so hard at a remark her sister Jed made. Jed is here to give her all-out support to her sister by flying in from Singapore to be with the Robertos.

Congratulations to the Robertos! Your faithfulness once again was rewarded with God granting baby Elijah the vitals of a 36-37th-week baby even if he was born just 35 weeks. Baby Elijah does not need to be in an incubator and is already enjoying room time with family.

I am overjoyed for this miracle baby to be in our midst. He is testament of God's providence and blessings to those who love Him.
