THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Compostela Valley assured potential investors that insurgency and disasters will not affect their operations should they decide to locate in the province.
During the Habi at Kape on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, DTI-Compostela Valley division chief Kim Evangelio said there should be no worries over insurgency and disasters in the area as they already formulated the provincial business and investment security plan.
“Last year we conducted the first-ever business and investment summit where we formulated business and investment security plan. This is for it to secure whatever the investment and business operating in Compostela Valley. We already prepared the template [and] the format for any given situations such as insurgency and disasters,” he said.
Evangelio said the province has a proactive plan to anticipate situations that threaten the safety and security of the investors and their businesses.
“(Regarding) disasters, we have recovered actually from Typhoon Pablo five years ago. Even during disasters, there are opportunities for investments because right now, establishments should be disaster-resilient, required na ‘yan siya,” he said.
“Incoming investments already have mapping on disaster preparedness, so iniiwas namin doon na mga areas [prone to disasters],” he added.
Meanwhile, the DTI-Compostela Valley aims to bring in more investments after the Davao de Oro Biz Icon in March this year. Officials said they are optimistic about reaching to reach the targeted P500 million worth of investments after the investment conference.
DTI-Compostela Valley trade and industry development specialist Rochelle Otoc said the goal is not impossible especially that there are now 36 project proposals in place with a total estimated investment cost of P3.2 billion.
She said these are mostly from individual private investors.
