SM Seaside City Cebu hosts two-day cosplay convention

THE Otakufest Events Management, in cooperation with LIVETECH Production and SM Seaside City Cebu, will bring the latest edition of Otakufest 2019, Cebu’s premier cosplay and hobbies convention.

This Feb. 23-24, gear up for two days of unlimited fun, laughter and fellowship with other like-minded hobbyists at the very first two-day Otakufest to be held at the SM Seaside City Cebu Maze Garden.

From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both days, Otakufest 2019 promises to deliver a memorable convention experience for its loyal attendees with signature activities such as the Japanese Singing Contest, Asian Pop Dance Competition, Ramen Eating Competition and Artist Alley.

The event’s brand new activities include the SaberSturm Duel Tournament and Mobile Legends Tournament.

As the event is a pioneer in the Visayas convention scene, Otakufest 2019 embraces the future of fintech with the transition to blockchain-enabled ticketing system, Ticket2Me.

Otakufest 2019 also opens its arms to the first-ever Pop Culture Hiroshima Cebu Qualifiers on the first day, Feb. 23, and National Finals on the second day, Feb. 24, marking the first time the event will be hosting two cosplay competitions of international caliber.

The two teams chosen during the World Cosplay Summit 2019 Cebu Qualifiers will represent Cebu in the national finals to be held later this year. The winner of the national finals will represent the Philippines at the World Cosplay Summit 2019 in Nagoya, Japan.

The Pop Culture Hiroshima Cebu qualifiers and national finals will determine the duo who will be sent to Hiroshima, Japan to showcase their talents in cosplay wear.

An upgraded gakuensai (gakuensai) experience awaits the Otakufest attendees.

The other highlights of the event is the appearance of special guests World Cosplay Summit 2018 Philippine representative Team SeKai and the internationally renowned Japanese cosplayer Reika. Avid fans of Reika may grab the chance to meet the talented craftmaster through an exclusive meet and greet session during the event.
