Capitol hastens completion of Pala-Pala food terminal

NEGROS Occidental Acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said the provincial government is now hastening the completion of the Pala-Pala food terminal.

“We are asking the contractor through the Provincial Engineer to hasten the project because we are losing some income,” Gelvolea said adding that, “though the Dynamic Builders Inc., the contractor of the project, is still on its timetable in the expected completion of the project in June this year.”

The Capitol had eyed to complete the building in October last year but it has been delayed due to the presence of the food vendors, she said.

Gelvolea also said that additional works are being imposed as the area will be transformed into a food court that is why the timetable for completion is moved.

For now, there are about 50 stalls, she said. “With the completion of the complex, it will be transformed into food courts and there will be spaces for dry goods, groceries, storage area, organic trading post, ‘bagsakan’ of seafoods, meeting rooms, and a bigger conference room that can accommodate 300 participants.”

Food and fish storage is also being added to the structure.

“Because it is an enterprise, the province will have to recover for its cost,” Gelvolea said.* (TDE)
