‘Drug group leader’ shot dead

AN ALLEGED leader of a drug group in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental was shot to death by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants in Barangay 5 Thursday afternoon, February 21.

Killed was Abdul Halim Mangontawar, 51, of the said village.

He was a level three high-value target and an alleged leader of Mangontawar drug group operating in the city, the police said.

Investigation showed the victim was feeding his fighting cock at his residence, when two of the four suspects entered the gate and fired at him.

Mangontawar tried to run but he was chased and shot several times.

He was brought to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The assailants fled on board two motorcycles.

Police considered the incident as drug-related. (GYM)
