Apaliteño students get cash grants

IN THE continuous aim to support the education of the youth, the local government of Apalit on Thursday, February 21, released financial assistance to students of public high schools in a coastal barangay here.

Mayor Peter Nucom, together with municipal council members, personally turned over a cheque amounting to P527,200 to officials of Cansinala National High School (CNHS) in a simple ceremony held at the school covered court.

Nucom said that a total of 659 CNHS received P800 each from the funds which are intended to cover their allowances and daily expenses in school including projects and other subject requirements.

Nucom also said that a cheque amounting to P514,400 was also turned over to officials of Sucad National High School on Monday, wherein 643 students received P800 each under the same program.

“These students are considered scholars of the local government because the local government already covers their tuition fees in school and this cash grants are intended for their additional requirements,” Nucom said.

He added that the said recipients in the two schools are part of the thousands of students from elementary to tertiary level regularly supported by the local government under its scholarship program.

In his speech, Nucom urged recipients to strive harder and maximize the opportunity to study despite struggles and challenges they may face each day.

“Each waking day is another challenge and is also an opportunity for us to be better, to strive harder and be climb higher to reach our goals in life. And each day that you are able to go to school is a step farther in reaching your dreams for yourselves, your family and for the community,” he said.
