DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said she will no longer talk to the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Davao chapter on its proposed adjusted allowance, citing that she was dismayed by the latter's claim that the city has not given them anything.

“Nalain ko sa ilahang pagpamakak so wala nako nakig-istorya sa ilaha and anyway isa rana sila ka grupo sa tibuok teacher and non-teaching personnel sa Deped (I was dismayed about the lies they told so I no longer talk to them and anyway they are just one group, teaching and non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education),” the mayor said.

If she wishes to talk about teacher’s concerns, she will call Davao City's schools division superintendent Dr. Maria Ines C. Asuncion to discuss it and not with ACT.

Earlier, ACT Davao president Elenito Escalante said they submitted their new proposal to the Office of the Mayor in October 2018 after the latter said that their first proposal was impossible so Duterte-Carpio asked them to give her another proposal.

ACT has been waiting for the response from the mayor.

In their latest proposal, they asked for a P1,500 monthly allowance and a half sack of rice for every three months. This is lower compared to their previous proposal of P2,000 monthly allowance and P2,500 quarterly rice subsidy per teacher.

“Mag rally lang sila (They can rally). There is freedom of speech and expression for as long as dili sila mag (they don't) violate og laws. Okay lang,” Duterte-Carpio added.

However, she said that she received reports wherein the party list allegedly claimed that the city did not do anything for teachers. The mayor denied the claim, saying that they give teachers P2,000 each once a year.
