60 candidates running for local positions

SOME 60 candidates are running for local positions in Davao City in the May 2019 midterm elections.

Based on Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) list, incumbent Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and Jun Marcellones are both eyeing the mayoralty seat while Sebastian “Baste” Duterte is unopposed vice mayoralty candidate.

The first district councilor city candidates are Nilo Abellera, Mabel Acosta, Onnie Alfaro, Lyndon Banzon, Jessica Bonguyan, Pilar Braga, Richard Duterte, Jun Engoc, Boy Guino-o, Kap Ibuyan, Joel Landero, Cristito Lazaro, Pamela Librado, Roy Liza, Ernesto Macasaet Jr., Romulo Mamalias, Bonifacio Militar, and Melchor Quitain Jr.

In second district, vying for Council seats are Ralph Abella, doctor Florence Alejandre, Dante Apostol, Corazon Arche, Ericson Batican, Jonelito Bermudez Sr., Louie John Bonguyan, Javi Campos, Regidor Cortez, Danny Dayanghirang, Johnard Dayap, Cha-Cha Dela Calzada, Goldie Delvo, Boogie Dureza, Rene Estorpe, Crispin Galang, Roger Galido, Richlyn Justol, Diosdado Mahipus, Pedrito Salvador, Halila Sudagar, and Tanciong Tiongco.

Meanwhile, Sweet Advincula, Nonoy Al-ag, Conde Baluran, Ramon Bargamento II, Bebot Clarion, Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, Ernesto Gerodias, Louie Narisma, Petite Principe, Alberto Ungab, Dr. Joselle Villafuerte and Cocoy Zozobrado are the third district Council aspirants.

First district congressional seat candidates include Paolo Duterte, Rex Labis and Susan Uyanguren while Vincent Garcia and Isidro Ungab each has no rivals in second and third districts, respectively.

Comelec-Davao spokesperson lawyer Krisna Samantha Caballero said in a text message on Wednesday that a candidate from third district withdrew his candidacy.

It can be recalled Orlando Fulguerinas from Nationalist People's Coalition cancelled his candidacy on December 18, 2018. (RJC)
