TWO policemen were killed following an encounter between government forces and New People's Army (NPA) in Occidental Mindoro Saturday, February 23.
In a report from the Mimaropa Police Regional Office, it identified the killed police officers as Senior Police Officer 1 Bonifacio Tacuyo and Senior Police Officer 2 Raymundo Robles, both assigned at the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the said province.
It said the firefight between the army soldiers and members of the communist rebels led by a certain Jojo Zapra happened around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday Purok Catmon, Barangay Mapaya, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.
Tacuyo and Robles both responded in the said area to provide assistance, conduct investigation, and checkpoint upon learning about the encounter.
They were both brought to the San Jose District Hospital for examination while hot pursuit against the involved communist rebels is ongoing. (SunStar Philippines)
