Pangan: Making the right choices

IN JUST a while, we will have our midterm elections on May 13, 2019. We are now barraged by ads in television, radio and print plus social media.

By this time, we should be perfectly wise and discerning, resolved not to commit several errors in our choices.

From the crop of re-electionists, we can choose those who have delivered, so to speak, and thus performed well for the welfare of our people.

Names like Senators Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe easily register in our consciousness as among those very deserving of our votes; also, Senator Sonny Angara who has churned out several relevant bills; also Senator Bam Aquino and JV Ejercito who are both prolific in legislative work. Much credit to JV Ejercito for the Universal Health Care Act which will benefit all of us.

There is no doubt about the capability, efficiency and competence of Villar and Poe. Senator Cynthia, chair of the Senate committee on Agriculture, has done well in espousing agriculture concerns. Likewise, Senator Grace, as chair of the Senate committee on Public Transport and Utilities, has conducted honest-to-goodness hearings and consultations about transport and utilities issues. Both honorable women have churned out legislations for the public good and welfare, no doubt about that.
