8 arrested in Iligan drug busts

AT LEAST eight suspected drug personalities, including a teacher, were arrested, while over P300,000 worth of suspected illicit drugs were seized in separate drug busts in Iligan City over the weekend.

Arrested were Roy Lonoy and his six companions identified as Nashief Manalao, Dharryl Alumbro, Robert Lonoy, Julie Ann Bansag, Lea Ramirez, and Matteo Go.

The seven were nabbed in an area declared as a drug den in Purok 7, Tambo, Barangay Hinaplanon.

In Palmera, Barangay Sto. Rosario, arrested was Macalayon Tataro, a teacher who was considered a high-value target.

Personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Northern Mindanao confiscated around P311,000 worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from the suspects.

Authorities said the target in the Hinaplanon operation was also number six in the drug list in Iligan City.

Pieces of evidence were brought to the crime laboratory for examination, while the suspects will face drug charges.
