Pampanga hosts culinary talks for National Arts Month

PAMPANGA, the country’s culinary capital, served as backdrop for this year’s NAMNAMIN: National Arts Month Celebration 2019.

The event started on Monday, February 25, at the Orchids Garden in the City of San Fernando and featured various artists from the different regions who will be sharing space in a creative culinary environment.

“Nearly everything about food will be celebrated through performances, panel discussions, demonstrations, music, exhibits and film showing. The event will happen in Pampanga, which is known as the culinary capital of the country,” the briefer for the event said.

The event is part of the month-long Ani ng Sining and will offer a wide array of events and activities aim at celebrating a bountiful harvest of Philippine arts as well as inspiring Filipinos to immerse in and appreciate the diversity of cultural expressions, insights and creativity.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is leading the celebrations all over the country.

Ani ng Sining is under the aegis of NCCA’s Subcommission on the Arts (SCA), led by its commissioner Teddy Co. The name emphasizes the richness of artistic endeavors in the Philippines and the passion of Filipino artists and cultural workers.

The annual celebration of National Arts Month started with the signing of Presidential Proclamation 683, in 1991, declaring February as National Arts Month. Over the years, NCCA, as well as private and government agencies, has been organizing events and activities to highlight the artistic brilliance of Filipinos.
