A COMMUNITY hospital that will cater to the immediate medical needs of residents will soon rise in Masantol town, Mayor Danilo Guintu said Monday, February 25.

The local government, in partnership with other government agencies through Fourth District Representative Juan Pablo Bondoc, is initially allocating some P70 million for the construction of the structure alone, Guintu said.

“We will start the construction possibly by the second quarter of 2019, after the election ban on infrastructure projects is lifted,” Guintu, who is running unopposed for his third and last term, added.

He said that the hospital will be constructed in a government-owned lot in Barangay Caingin which is strategic for barangays in the remote coastal area who most need the health facility.

For the operations, Guintu said the local government will propose a tie-up with the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital (JBLMRH) to ensure delivery of quality health services to local patients.

“Our main goal is to provide a health facility that is easily accessible to our kabalens, especially during emergency situations. Also, we wanted to decongest JBLMRH since it caters to patients regionwide,” Guintu said.
