THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda)-Davao said they have been utilizing government funds to increase number of technical-vocational education and training (TVET) scholars to generate employment in the region.
“As part of the enabling role of Tesda and to enhance employment of TVET graduates, the regional and provincial offices shall pursue partnership with enterprises, industry chambers and associations,” Tesda-Davao director Lorenzo Macapili said in a text message to SunStar Davao on Saturday, February 23.
He said added that they will also converge and partner with government agencies particularly in entrepreneurship and other non-wage employment programs.
He further laid down the key employment generators such as agri-fishery, agri-business, agri-industrial, tourism, information technology (IT)-business processing management, electronics, automotive, other priority manufacturing industries, logistics, general infrastructure, and other new and emerging sectors.
Last February 19, Tesda-Davao conducted the School Administrators’ Conference to deploy and widely disseminate the new guidelines on various programs to its partner schools and institutions where over 200 participants attended at the Grand Regal Hotel, Lanang, Davao City.
The conference was conducted to orient the school administrators and representatives of the recently-released Omnibus Guidelines for 2019 Tesda Scholarship Programs.
“In the interest of the service and in line with the Tesda reform and development agenda, Tesda 11 shall abide with the omnibus guidelines for 2019 years scholarship programs such as the training for work scholarship program (TWSP), private education student financial assistance (Pesfa), special training for employment program (Step), and free TVET- universal access to quality tertiary education,” Macapili said.
In 2018, Tesda 11 reported that they have 21,500 TWSP enrolled, while 1,500 for pesfa and 3,500 for step.
