Monteritz Classic Estates Homeowners Association, Inc. (MCEHAI) president Jet Villamor said that they will exhaust all legal means if their appeal for Mindanao Railway Project (MRP) realignment will not be considered.

With the fifth realignment plan of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for Monteritz subdivision, homeowners expressed dismay as 40 homeowners and 67 lot owners will be affected as the railway project would traverse inside the subdivision.

During SM City’s Kapehan Monday, February 25, Villamor showed the original realignment proposal which will affect only the Town Plaza, an ongoing one-hectare commercial development.

However, Villamor said they were not invited for consultation over the realignment not until the committee hearing in February only to find out that there was already a new realignment plan, this time, not affecting the Town Plaza but the phase one of the subdivision.

“We are not against the railway. The problem is, the railway will actually pass through phase one where we are actually coming from,” Villamor said.

“We cannot just allow this railway to traverse into a private subdivision because these properties are hard-earned money. Gusto ng mga homeowners na dito tumira kasi maganda ang lugar,” he added.

Meanwhile, Villamor said they already passed a board resolution on February 8, stating their objection to the alignment of the Tagum-Davao-Digos railway project.

“Instead of passing through within the premises of phase one, MCEHAI proposes that the railway project realignment be made to pass through C.P. Garcia Avenue, which has eight lanes, not to mention the easement it can get from adjacent landowners,” stated in the board resolution.

Villamor also said during the committee hearing last week, DOTr told them that they will try to study their appeal, but have not assured them of considering the proposal to change the realignment plan.

“DOTr did not give any commitment. They just said that they will study the outcome of that committee hearing,” he said.
