CSF exec: ‘Be wary of fake news’

IN LINE with the commemoration of the 33rd People Power Revolution, City Administrator Fer Limbitco on Monday, February 25, enjoined the public to fight the spread of false information about the country’s history.

In his speech during Monday’s flag raising ceremony, Limbitco urged his fellow public servants to conduct fair research on the importance of and the role played by the revolution on the country’s current state.

“Edsa Revolution is our shining moment. We showed how powerful the voices of the people are. And we must not let our fight for freedom be forgotten by educating the public about accurate information,” Limbitco said.

He also urged city hall employees to be responsible in sharing information to the public and via social media platforms, and avoid spreading misinformation and false news that would mislead the public.

“Always make reference to credible sources, may it be people, website or reading materials. Do not be part of the fake news propaganda because as government employees have a bigger role of informing the public,” Limbitco stressed.

Meanwhile, Limbitco was also joined by department heads in the city hall in releasing white doves to symbolize the freedom the country gained after the historical 1986 People Power Revolution.

“Edsa Revolution was a strong demonstration of our freedom in the midst of martial rule and we were able to overcome that through our unity. Indeed, it is one of the shining moments for us Filipinos,” he said.
