THE Bacolod Queen Of Mercy Hospital Inc. has been granted accreditation by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
Dr. Wilson Tulmo, chief operating officer of the hospital, said the effectivity of the accreditation and PhilHealth coverage is January 21, when the hospital started its operations.
They only received the Certificate of Accreditation on February 26.
“Since we opened, the patients having the PhilHealth benefits were all covered even if we got the certificate on February 26,” Tulmo pointed out.
PhilHealth officials were also at the hospital on Wednesday, February 27 and confirmed the accreditation.
Aside from the PhilHealth accreditation, Tulmo also said that the hospital will open additional dialysis beds to accommodate more dialysis patients which the hospital under the previous management is known for.
“From five, we are now having 12 beds and soon we are going to have 16 units,” Tulmo said.
The hospital, he added, will also be investing a CT scan.
“We are soon acquiring a new CT Scan and a new Vitek machine, a machine that would be able to identify the micro-organism and look at their sensitivity pattern so that we will know what organisms are attacking the patients and what antibiotics are really meant for that organism. We will also be opening soon the gastro-endoscopy unit,” Tulmo said.
At present, the hospital's bed capacity is 120 and that 70 percent of it is now occupied, he added.
The hospital has a total workforce of about 300 employees which is lower than the previous administration.
The new hospital under the new management uses the building of Bacolod Our Lady Of Mercy Specialty Hospital (BOLMSH)that closed down in July 2018.
Since it is now under the new management and a new corporation, we also have new personnel, facilities, business permit and registration from the Securities and Exchange Commission, Tulmo earlier said.
He said the new management was able to get the License to Operate from the Department of Health on January 15.
The BOLMSH shut down its operations due to the non-issuance of the hospital accreditation from PhilHealth following lapses of the previous hospital administration.
