THE Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR) director Police Brigadier General Rolando Nana is asking the public to be vigilant of surroundings and report any suspicious activities or items they see.

“If our constituents would encounter any suspicious activities like bomb threats, we advise them to report immediately to the Police who will alert our Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD) personnel and to the K9 team.”

The reminder comes in time for the Baguio Flower Festival street dancing and floats parades in the weekend and is expected to attract hordes of local and foreign tourists.

In February, PRO-COR conducted a controlled explosion at Baguio City’s night market as part of its bomb threat simulation exercise to assess the Baguio City Police Office’s readiness.

Nana said the BCPO is ready to respond to bomb explosions and threats together with the EOD, the emergency response teams, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and medical teams which are the core components in any emergencies that may happen in their areas of responsibility.

Nana said suspicious unattended baggage should not be held and instead should be reported to police patrollers within a specific area who in turn would do the necessary action protocols.

“We are calling on all the members of our community who may visit areas like the Night Market including the vendors to be vigilant and observant of their surroundings, and in cases where there maybe the presence of suspicious unattended baggage’s for them not to touch it and instead, report it to the nearest police officers or station,” Nana said.
