THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will deploy around 4,500 security personnel for the whole duration of the celebration of the 82nd Araw ng Dabaw to ensure the peaceful festivity against possible threats.
Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum, DCPO director, said on Wednesday that these are only the personnel to be deployed by their office including the augmentation coming from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao, police auxiliary, and force multipliers.
“Based on the security requirement that was passed to us in our office, we have to deploy minimum of 4,500 security operations. That would be acted upon by individual security force not necessarily yong number ng security personnel but the rather the security operation that will be conducted,” Tagum said.
Aside from police force, the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), Task Force Davao, and other law enforcement agencies here will also deploy their personnel who will work hand in hand in implementing the security plan.
Tagum said on Friday morning, they will have their send-off ceremony of personnel who will be deployed on the ground to conduct security operations. He added that they are all set for the annual festivity.
“With the series of coordinating conferences that we had and participated in by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), I believe with the security plan already prepared and also na-relay na lahat sa security forces, I believe that we are ready for our security deployment and for our security operation for the coming activity like Araw ng Dabaw and Ironman competition in the city of Davao,” Tagum said.
Meanwhile, he also reminded the Dabawenyos as well as the local and foreign tourists of the ordinances of the city like the no smoking policy, drinking of alcoholic beverages in public, and the curfew for minors.
He further encouraged the public who will be coming to downtown to join the activities to refrain from bring back packs to avoid inconvenience during inspection.
Tagum also cautioned against the public who will leeave their baggage as this can be a violation of the Anti-Unattended Bag Ordinance.
The ordinance penalizes people who leaves an unattended bag in a public place and walks away. Whether they caused a public panic or not, they will be penalized.
