60 mass supporters condemn rebels

SIXTY residents of Barangays Asia and Lubi in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental condemned the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

The residents considered as mass supporters burned the flag of the CPP-NPA-NDF and took their oath of allegiance to the government on Tuesday, February 26 in Barangay Asia, a press release from the 15th Infantry Battalion (IB) of the Philippine Army said.

The activity was led by the barangay officials, local government officials, and the army.

The residents claimed that the communist terrorists would usually block the projects and programs of the governments in deprived areas and used it as propaganda, the press release said.

The community support program teams of the 15th IB were deployed to the two villages since October 28, 2018 to help the residents.

Lieutenant Colonel Patricio Tomales, commander of 15th IB, said the action of the mass supporters only showed they are tired of the propaganda of the rebels.

“Ang patuloy na suporta ng residente sa mga nasabing sitio sa ating gobyerno ay malaking tulong upang matapos ang nasimulan ng kalsada kasabay ng ibat-ibang proyekto at programa ng gobyerno (the continued support of the residents to the government is a big help to finish the road projects and other programs of the government),” he added.

A medical mission was also held to provide the residents with health assistance and other medical services. (GYM)
